Friends and family gather at Sherwood Island State Park to remember 9/11 victims

A day of remembrance

On the 21st anniversary of the September 11th attacks, friends and family gathered at Sherwood Island State Park in Westport, Connecticut, to remember the victims of the tragedy. The annual memorial service, organized by the Westport 9/11 Memorial Committee, included a reading of the names of the victims, a moment of silence, and the laying of a wreath at the memorial.

Among those in attendance were former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani and former Connecticut Governor M. Jodi Rell. Giuliani, who was mayor of New York City at the time of the attacks, spoke about the importance of remembering the victims and honoring their sacrifice. Rell, who was governor of Connecticut from 2004 to 2011, said that the memorial service was a way to show that the victims will never be forgotten.

A time for reflection

The memorial service was a time for reflection and remembrance. Many of those in attendance shared stories about their loved ones who were killed in the attacks. Others simply stood in silence, remembering the victims and the day that changed the world forever.

The memorial service at Sherwood Island State Park is one of many that took place across the country on the anniversary of the September 11th attacks. These services are a way to remember the victims, honor their sacrifice, and show that we will never forget.
