8/24/22: Grand Slam Tournament of Champions begins
On August 10, 2023, All Elite Wrestling returns to Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens, New York for the third annual Grand Slam: Tournament of Champions. It was announced that this year’s edition of the show would feature a new tournament format, with the winners of the men’s and women’s tournaments being crowned the inaugural AEW World Unified Champions.
This week’s results
The August 17 episode of AEW Dynamite featured "Fyter Fest Night 2," headlined by a Stadium Stampede match between The Jericho Appreciation Society and Blackpool Combat Club. The show also featured a number of other high-profile matches, including a tag team match between Swerve in Our Glory and Aussie Open, and a singles match between Miro and Darby Allin.
- Darby Allin defeated Miro via pinfall.
- Swerve in Our Glory (Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland) defeated Aussie Open (Kyle Fletcher and Mark Davis) via pinfall.
- The Jericho Appreciation Society (Chris Jericho, Sammy Guevara, Daniel Garcia, Jake Hager, and Matt Menard) defeated Blackpool Combat Club (Jon Moxley, Bryan Danielson, Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, and William Regal) in a Stadium Stampede match.
The show closed with a confrontation between AEW World Champion CM Punk and Bryan Danielson. Danielson challenged Punk to a match for the AEW World Championship at All Out, and Punk accepted.
