Arrest of Dheeraj Wadhawan
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested former Dewan Housing Finance Limited (DHFL) director Dheeraj Wadhawan in connection with a multi-crore rupee financial fraud case. The arrest was made on Tuesday in relation to a Rs 34,000 crore alleged banking fraud.
Prior Arrests in the Case
Dheeraj Wadhawan and his brother, Kapil, were previously arrested in the same case on July 19, 2022. The CBI investigation pertains to alleged irregularities in the sanction and disbursement of loans by DHFL.
The CBI has also arrested several other individuals, including former directors and executives of DHFL, in connection with the case. The investigation is ongoing, and further arrests are expected.
